What is Historic Vehicles

Vehicle model year is 1999 and having a personal ownership are eligible for Historic tags. However, all vehicles prior to model year 1999 are not considered as Historic. If the owner decides to use the vehicle as Historic, individual needs to request submitting the form VR-096.

What if my car is more than 50 years

If the vehicle is 50 years old you may request the '50 Years Historic' tags. And your registration fee may be lower.

What if my car is more than 60 years

Vehicles older than 60 years are eligible to have one time registration fee and get unexpire registration. However, your plates are still '50 Years Historic'.

Do I need to do the safety inspection

If you purchased a vehicle and registering to your name (not business) you don’t want to do the Maryland safety inspection if vehicle is registered under Historic.
